“Korean New Deal initiative for advanced economy requires speedy implementation.”  □ July 15, 2020 (Wed.) □ Venue: Conference Room of the Chairman at the Main Building■ Lee Hae-chan, Chairman of the DPK  

Today marks the date on which the Act on the Establishment and Operation of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials takes into effect as well as the legal deadline by which the CIO shall be launched. However, the CIO, as an independent agency exclusively investigating and indicting high-ranking officials involved in corruption cases, including government organizations of power, should play a pivotal role in reforming authorities and establishing morality of public office holders. The National Assembly, however, has failed to fulfill its duty to launch the CIO, whose establishment and operation are set by law. It is regrettable that lawmakers of opposition parties who are public officials are in charge of the launch of the independent investigation agency with the right to probe into public officials’ act of breaching and manipulating law.

President Moon Jae-in, officials from the government, the presidential office, and the ruling party, and representatives of businesses and laborers gathered to hold a reporting session at Cheong Wa Dae yesterday, where the Korean New Deal plan was unveiled. The initiative is an ambitious project designed to reshape the future of Korea, from a catch-up economy to a pace-setting economy, from a carbon dependent economy to a low carbon economy, and from an unequal society to an inclusive society. As for the initiative, speed is of paramount importance from this time on. The government and the ruling party in collaboration with local governments and the private sector need to work closely to transform the future of Korea into an advanced, inclusive economy. The ruling DPK will do our utmost efforts to help the Korean New Deal project implemented in a sustainable manner.

“선진경제를 위한 한국판 뉴딜, 속도가 중요해”

  오늘은 공수처법 시행일이자, 공수처 출범 법정기일이다. 그렇지만 아직까지 공수처장추천위원회가 구성조차 안 되고 있다. 공수처는 권력 기관을 포함한 고위공직자의 부정부패를 독립적으로 조사하고 기소하기 위한 기관으로서 권력기관 개혁과 공직 도덕성 확립에 큰 역할을 수행해야 한다. 이를 출범시켜야 할 국회가 법률에 따른 의무를 다 하지 않고 있다. 공직자의 위법, 탈법을 조사하는 기관의 출범을 공직자인 야당 국회의원이 맡고 있는 현실이 안타깝기 그지없다.

  어제 대통령을 비롯한 당정청과 기업·노동계 대표까지 모두 모여서 ‘한국판 뉴딜 국민보고대회’가 청와대에서 열렸다. 한국판 뉴딜은 대한민국을 추격형 경제에서 선도형 경제로, 탄소의존 경제에서 저탄소 경제로, 불평등 사회에서 포용사회로 바꾸는 미래를 전환하겠다는 대규모 야심찬 프로젝트다. 이제부터는 속도가 중요하다. 당과 정부가 한 몸이 되고 지자체와 민간까지 결합하여 선진경제, 포용사회로의 미래 전환을 함께 해나갈 수 있도록 하겠다. 당에서도 한국판 뉴딜의 지속적인 이행을 위해서 최선을 다하도록 하겠다.
