“DPK’s untact national convention begins in full swing and all candidates are encouraged to compete

in good faith.”  □ July 22, 2020 (Wed.) □ Venue: Conference Room of the Chairman at the Main Building■ Lee Hae-chan, Chairman of the DPK   The ruling DPK will hold a national convention in August and candidate registration for the upcoming event was completed yesterday. Three candidates are going to run for the party chairman position and ten for Supreme Council leadership, respectively. A cutoff rule will not apply to the election of a new party leader, but to the election of the Supreme Council leadership, which will be held on July 24th. And then DPK’s national convention races kick off in full swing in Jeju and Gangwon first from this weekend. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 disease, the party will hold this upcoming national convention in a virtual format. The party and all the candidates are encouraged to implement sundry and original campaign methods so that ordinary Koreans and party members can pay more attention to the untact format of the national convention unprecedented in the party’s history. The new party chairman and leadership to be elected in the scheduled event will take charge of helping the Moon Jae-in government succeed, the country overcome the pandemic, the Korean version of New Deal achieve its desired goals, and the DPK win the next presidential election. As such, I would like to ask all the candidates to keep in mind that this upcoming national convention will be of great significance in various aspects and that we are all companions and one team. I hope they will do good competition. As the leader of the ruling party of the country, I will do my best to give vision and hope to the people in Korea by making this national convention the fairest and most transparent competition ever.

“언택트 전당대회 돌입, 선의의 경쟁 펼쳐야”

  8월 전대, 당대표와 최고위원 후보자 등록이 어제 마무리되었다. 당대표 후보에 세 분, 최고위원 후보에 열 분이 등록을 하셨다. 당대표 선거는 컷오프가 없지만 최고위원 선거는 24일에 컷오프를 실시할 예정이다. 이어 주말부터 제주와 강원을 시작으로 본격적인 전대 레이스에 돌입할 예정이다. 코로나 국난 상황인지라 이번 정기 전대는 온라인을 통해 접촉 없이 치러지는 언택트 전당대회로 치를 예정이다. 전례 없는 방식의 전당대회인 만큼 당원과 국민의 관심과 참여를 고취할 다양하고 새로운 운동방식을 당과 후보들은 시행해주시길 바란다. 이번 전대에서 선출되는 지도부는 문재인정부의 성공과 코로나 국난 극복, 한국판 뉴딜의 성공과 정권 재창출을 일궈낼 큰 책임을 지고 있다. 의미가 큰 전대인만큼 후보자로 나선 분들께서는 모두 동지요, 원팀이라는 점을 잊지 마시고 선의의 경쟁을 펼쳐주시길 바란다. 저는 당대표로서 국민께 비전과 희망을 드리는 전대가 되도록 공정하고 엄정하게 관리하는 소임을 다하도록 하겠다.
