The latest emergency measures unveiled by the government is not a social welfare measure, but emergency relief funds. I believe it is of paramount importance for the government to clearly show in implementing the emergency relief measure that in the face of grave emergency the state protects all the people in the country, regardless of places of their living, levels of their income, and their social status. As soon as general elections are over, the ruling DPK promises to take a close look at and come up with measures that will give all Koreans confidence that they are protected by the state.

On a tour around the country, what I have been most frequently asked by locals is the relocation of public institutions. Public offices were relocated to provinces during Roh Moo-hyun’s Participatory Government and Busan has been one of the most popular destinations for public institutions that were moved from the metropolitan city of Seoul. Since then more public organizations have been founded here. Upon the ending up of the general elections, the ruling DPK is going to work on the second phase of the relocation of public offices to regional provinces, a plan that will reflect demands of local governments as much as possible.

The April general elections are only ten days away. The last ten days before the elections will be the defining moment for the party. Hence, we should work harder in the remaining time leading up to the elections to win public trust.

  이번 재난대책은 복지정책이 아니다. 긴급재난대책이다. 그래서 이를 긴급재난대책에서는 지역과 관계없이, 소득과 관계없이, 계층과 관계없이 모든 국민을 국가가 보호하고 있다는 것을 한 번쯤은 제대로 보여주는 것이 굉장히 중요하다고 생각한다. 이번 총선이 끝나는 대로 당에서 이 모든 문제를 면밀히 검토해서 국민 전원이 국가로부터 보호받고 있다는 자기 확신을 가질 수 있는 그런 대책을 마련할 것을 약속드린다.

  제가 전국을 이렇게 다니다 보면 제일 절실하게 요구하는 것이 공공기관 지방 이전이다. 그동안에 지난 참여정부 공공기관을 지방으로 이전했는데, 부산이 공공기관이 가장 잘 적절히 많이 보급된 지역이다. 그 이후에 공공기관이 많이 생겼다. 이번 지방 공공기관 시즌2를 총선이 끝나는 대로 구상을 해서 많은 공공기관을 지역이 요구하는 것과 협의를 하여 반드시 이전하도록 하는 공공기관 이전정책을 확정을 짓도록 하겠다.

  이제 선거가 한 열흘밖에 남지 않았다. 열흘 동안이 마지막 그 고빗길이다. 국민으로부터 신뢰를 받을 수 있는 마지막 열흘을 최선을 다해서 가도록 하겠다.
