This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Gwangju Democratic Movement. Without the 1980 Gwangju uprising, the military dictatorship would have continued in Korea. Therefore, the pro-democracy demonstration in Gwangju made a crucial contribution to ending the military rule. However, the 20th National Assembly failed to unveil the truth behind what really happened in Gwangju back in 1980 due to the strong opposition from the United Future Party. For that matter, I would like to offer my sincere apology to the people of Korea.

We have only a few days left before the elections. Pre-voting will be held this Friday and Saturday. On the election day (April 15), there might be long lines of voters. So, I hope more voters will show up to cast their ballots during the two days of pre-voting, which will contribute to social distancing.

올해는 광주민주항쟁 40주년이 되는 해이다. ‘약무호남 시무국가(若無湖南 是無國家)'라는 말이 있듯이 80년도 광주 항쟁이 없었으면 계속 이어질 군부독재를 광주민주항쟁이 군부독재를 마치는데 결정적인 기여를 했다. 그러나 아직도 광주 진상을 규명하는 일은 미래통합당의 반대로 20대 국회에서 실현하지 못했다. 죄송하다.

이제 선거도 며칠 남지 않았다. 이틀간 사전투표가 금요일, 토요일에 있다. 아무래도 본 투표 날에는 여러 가지로 줄을 서야 하기 때문에 사전투표 날 많이 참여하셔서 사회적 거리두기에 함께 하면서 투표를 많이 해주시기를 다시 한 번 부탁드린다.
