January 2, 2019. Excerpt from Opening Statement of the Party’s Supreme Council Meeting

"This year, we will focus on making peace, economy, new 100 years ... and change“

2019, the Golden Year of the Year has been greeted. Today is the first high committee meeting. I wish all of you and the journalists, Happy New Year, very healthy, and peace in your home.  As we can see in the background, Democratic Party has decided this year’s key issues to be peace, an economy, and a new century. I will work hard this year with three big concepts. The most important thing is to concentrate on resilience and economic vitality. First, it is very important to energize the economy by enforcing the budget of close to 470 trillion won. I will continue to encourage the budget to be executed well through the negotiations with the ruling party, the provincial governor, and the meeting of the local autonomous entities. We will also concentrate on transforming the Party Administration into a system centered on civic life and making changes that the people feel. The Party-government-the Blue House will become one and will impose with authenticity. We will strengthen the livelihood meeting and hold the weekly top committee meeting. I will meet with the people and look for answers in the voice of the scene. Especially, I will prepare solutions through social dialogue and compromise such as Gwangju type job, taxi car pool problem, and minimum wage follow-up measures. As we have revised the Industrial Safety and Health Law with the support and support of the people in the wake of the victims of the late Kim Yong-gyun's workers, we will seek solutions in recognition of a single community rather than a confrontation of social conflicts.  The next important thing is to create an irreversible peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. This year's transition to a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula, which began last year, will be further accelerated to create an era of peaceful coexistence on the Korean peninsula. President Moon Jae-in said that peace would create an irreversible peace to help one's life. Kim Jong-un of the North also expressed his commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and the establishment of a permanent peace regime. I will try my best to make a new peace system in 70 years since the inter-Korean summit and the North American summit are held as soon as possible.  Now it is necessary to prepare for a new 100 years. The 100th anniversary of the establishment of the March 1st movement and the provisional government, I will start to work on that meaning well and lay the cornerstone for the new century. It is also important to look back over the past 100 years of history, but it is also very important to gather the will of the people and prepare for a new future for our society.      

"올해 화두는 평화·경제·새로운 100년...변화 만드는 데 주력"  □  이해찬 당대표 2019 년 기해년 황금돼지해를 맞이했다 . 오늘이 첫 최고위원회 회의다 . 국민 여러분 , 그리고 언론인 여러분 , 새해 복 많이 받으시고 아주 건강하시고 가정에 평화가 깃들기를 기원하겠다 .  회의장 배경에 보시는 것처럼 저희 더불어민주당은 올해 화두를 평화 , 경제 , 그리고 새로운 100 년으로 정했다 . 세 가지 큰 개념을 갖고 올 한해 열심히 활동하겠다 . 가장 중요한 것은 역시 민생안정과 경제 활력에 당력을 집중하는 것이다 . 우선 470 조에 가까운 민생예산을 잘 집행해서 경제를 활력화시키는 것이 매우 중요한 일이다 . 당정협의와 당 소속 시도지사 , 기초자치단체 간담회를 통해 예산이 잘 집행 되도록 계속해서 독려해 나가겠다 . 또한 당 운영을 민생현장 중심체제로 전환하고 국민이 체감하는 변화를 만드는데 주력하겠다 . 당정청이 하나가 되어 진정성을 갖고 임하겠다 . 민생연석회의를 강화하고 매주 현장최고위원회의를 개최하겠다 . 국민과 함께 머리를 맞대고 현장의 목소리에서 답을 찾겠다 . 특히 광주형 일자리 , 택시카풀문제 , 최저임금 후속대책 등 사회적 대화와 타협을 통해 해결방안을 마련해 나가겠다 . 故 김용균 노동자의 희생을 계기로 국민의 지지와 성원을 얻어 산업안전보건법을 개정한 것처럼 사회갈등을 대립적 관계로 보기보다는 하나의 공동체란 인식 속에서 해결책을 찾아나가도록 하겠다 . 그 다음에 중요한 것은 불가역적인 한반도 평화체제를 만들어 내는 것이다 . 지난해 시작된 역사적인 한반도 평화체제 전환을 올해는 더욱 속도감 있게 진전시켜서 평화 공존의 한반도 시대를 만들어 내는 것이다 . 문재인 대통령은 평화가 한 분 한 분의 삶에 도움이 되도록 돌이킬 수 없는 평화를 만들겠다고 말씀하셨다 . 북의 김정은 위원장도 한반도의 완전한 비핵화와 항구적인 평화체제 구축에 대한 의지를 밝혔다 . 아무쪼록 남북정상회담 , 북미정상회담이 가능한 빨리 열려서 분단 70 년 만에 새로운 평화체제가 만들어지도록 저희 더불어민주당도 최선을 다해 노력하겠다 . 이제 새로운 100 년을 준비하는 것이 필요하다 . 3.1 운동과 임시정부수립 100 주년을 맞아 그 의미를 잘 살리고 이제 새로운 100 년을 위한 초석을 놓는 일을 시작하겠다 .

  지난 100 년의 역사를 돌아보는 것도 중요하지만 , 국민의 뜻을 모아 우리 사회가 나아갈 새로운 미래를 준비하는 것 또한 매우 중요하다 .
