November 19, 2018. Excerpt from Opening Statement of the Party’s Supreme Council Meeting

“"Unjust state investigation, should be dealt with strict standards”

Currently, the National Assembly is in full swing, but the budget review date is to be completed in short time. It is only two weeks away, but the opposition party is not participating in the parliamentary schedule, so it should be said that the budget review is not practically done. Today, the party representative should talk to the opposition parties to prevent the parliament from breaking down. However, I would like to respect the unfair national sovereignty with strict standards.  Overall, it's true that the economy is difficult, but it’s not good to be too pessimistic. Our economy basically entered a low-growth trend, but overall, there are many stable aspects as well. We think that we should lead the policy steadily while looking at the positive and negative factors together rather than negatively. In particular, on the 22nd, a general secretary of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) is not participating but the Federation of Korea Trade Unions is when the Economic and Social and Labor Committee is launching. So, I think that good dialogue related improvement that can overcome economic difficulties through enough dialogue is being done well. The Party will try our best to be a good channel in making social compromise by proposing good opinions to the Economic and Social and Labor Committee as well.      

"부당한 국정조사, 엄격한 기준으로 대해야“

□ 이해찬 당대표   지금 전반적으로 국회가 파행 거듭하고 있는데 예산심사 기일이 얼마 남지 않았다. 불과 2주일 안 남았는데 야당이 국회 일정에 참여 안 해서 예산심사가 사실상 안 되고 있다고 봐야 되는데 오늘 원내대표께서는 야당들하고 대화를 해서 국회가 파행되지 않도록, 그러나 부당한 국조에 대해선 우리가 엄격한 기준으로 대했으면 좋겠다.   전반적으로 경제가 어려운 건 사실이지만 너무 비관적으로 보는 건 좋지 않다 우리 경제는 기본적으로 저성장 기조에 들어왔지만 그러나 전반적으로 안정된 측면도 많이 있다. 우리가 너무 경제를 부정적으로만 보지 말고 긍정적 요소와 부정적 요소 함께 보면서 안정적으로 정책 이끌어 가야된다 생각한다. 특히 22일날 경사노위가 발족을 하는데 전국민주노동조합총연맹(민주노총) 참여안 하지만 한국노동조합총연맹(한국노총)은 참여하기 때문에 충분한 대화 통해 경제 어려움 극복해나갈 수 있는 좋은 대화 관련 개선이 모처럼 이뤄진다고 생각한다. 우리 당도 경사노위에 좋은 의견들을 제안해서 사회적 타협 좋은 창구 되도록 노력하겠다.
