Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Republic of Korea's Armed Forces Day, we assure peace on the Korean peninsula based on strong security.

Today, Armed Forces Day celebrates its 70th anniversary. We celebrate our military’s birthday. Moreover, today’s Armed Forces Day event is more meaningful because we had the restoration anniversary where the 64 remains of the soldiers who died during the Korean war returned to the home nation.

In the meantime, the Korean government has been committed to the peace and prosperity of the Korean peninsula, which is the obligation of the Constitution given to the state in the belief that the cruelty of war should not happen again on the Korean peninsula based on strong security and solid national defense.

As a result, we could leada the three inter-Korean summit talks, the 4.27 Panmunjom Declaration, the 9.19 Pyongyang Joint Declaration, as well as the North Korea-U.S. Summit and the Korea-US-Japan Summit, leading to a strong ROK-US alliance and international cooperation as the subject of peace on the Korean peninsula. and opening the era of peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Democratic Party will endeavor to improve the treatment of soldiers which has already been promised, to honor the heroes of the country, and to strive together on the road to become a more developed nation with national defense and an advocate of national security.

Through this, we promise to build a peace system on the Korean Peninsula and pledge to take the lead in creating a peaceful security environment in which people can safely work and engage in livelihood.

제70주년 국군의 날을 맞아 튼튼한 안보를 바탕으로 한 한반도 평화구축을 다짐한다

오늘 국군의 날이 70주년을 맞이했다. 우리 군의 생일을 축하한다. 더욱이 6·25전쟁 국군 전사자 유해 64구가 고국으로 돌아오는 봉환식을 갖게 되어 오늘 국군의 날 행사가 더욱 뜻 깊다.

그동안 정부는 한반도의 평화와 번영은 헌법이 국가에 부여한 의무로, 한반도에서 두 번 다시 평화가 아닌 전쟁의 참혹함이 일어나서는 안 된다는 신념으로 강한 안보와 튼튼한 국방을 기반으로 한반도의 평화와 번영을 지키기 위해 노력해 왔다.

그 결과 3차례의 남북 정상회담, 4.27 판문점 선언, 9.19 평양공동선언은 물론 북미 정상회담, 한·미·일 정상회담을 이끌어 내며 한반도 평화의 주체자로서 강력한 한미동맹과 국제사회의 공조를 얻어내며 새로운 한반도 평화의 시대를 열어가고 있다.

더불어민주당은 이미 약속한 군 장병들의 처우 개선, 호국영웅 예우 등 국회 차원의 노력을 아끼지 않으며, 선진화된 국방강국으로 국토방위와 국민의 안전을 지키는 군이 되는 길에 함께 노력할 것이다.

 이를 통해 한반도의 평화체계를 구축하고, 국민이 안심하고 생업에 종사할 수 있는 평화로운 안보 환경을 만드는데 앞장설 것을 다짐한다.
