"The dismantling of the West Sea Satellite Launching Station, shall be meaningful progress for peace“

  North Korea has begun work to dismantle the West Sea Satellite Launching Station. The launching pad of the West Sea launching station was a place where Kim Jong-un promised to "destroy" Kim Jong-il at the 6.12 North Korea-U.S. summit. In such sense, if the dismantling of the West Sea satellite launching station is true, it is a meaningful progress for the implementation of the "Sentosa Declaration" of North Korea. Above all, the denuclearization measures we have shown in action will be a valuable opportunity to build another trust in the North Korea-U.S. relationship. The two nations are facing skepticism within the international community and their own countries, saying that there is no quick response and result after the North Korea-U.S. summit, but they should not end the dialogue for denuclearization and peace. We appreciate the will and efforts of the two countries, which are slowly but steadily narrowing down each other's views and moving one step toward the common goal. Two days later, it marks the 65th anniversary of the signing of the armistice agreement. Democratic Party will endeavor to revive the heartbreaking history of the Korean Peninsula that had to be divided 65 years ago, and to do its utmost to ensure the peaceful settlement of the Korean Peninsula through denuclearization and declaration of the end of the war.  

"北 서해위성발사장 해체, 평화위한 의미있는 진전"   ■ 추미애 대표     북한이 서해 위성발사장을 해체하는 작업에 들어갔다고 한다 . 서해 위성발사장은 김정은 위원장이 6.12 북미정상회담에서 트럼프 미국 대통령에게 ‘곧 파괴하겠다 ’고 약속한 장소였다 . 그러한 의미에서 서해위성발사장 해체가 사실이라면 북한의 ‘센토사 선언 ’의 이행을 위한 의미 있는 진전이라 평가한다 . 무엇보다 행동으로 보여준 비핵화 조치는 북미 관계에 또 하나의 신뢰를 구축하는 소중한 계기가 될 것이다 . 양국은 북미정상회담 이후 빠른 조치와 결과가 없다며 국제사회와 자국 내의 회의론에 맞닥뜨리고 있지만 비핵화와 평화를 위한 대화의 끈을 끝까지 놓지 않아야 한다 . 느리지만 차분히 서로의 견해를 좁혀가며 공동의 목표를 향해 한 걸음씩 나아가고 있는 양국의 의지와 노력을 높이 평가한다 . 이틀 뒤면 정전협정이 체결된 지 65 주년이 된다 . 더불어민주당은 65 년 전 한반도가 나눠져야 했던 가슴 아픈 역사를 되새기며 , 비핵화를 통해 한반도 평화가 정착되고 , 종전선언이 빨리 이뤄질 수 있도록 최선을 다해 노력하겠다 .
