June 18, 2018. Excerpt from Opening Statement of the Party’s Supreme Council Meeting

"Liberty Korea Party should reflect upon itself, it should start from normalization of the National Assembly to have credibility"

   ■ Party Chairperson Mi-Ae Choo   Democratic Party has been given a vital mission through the local election. In the future, Democratic Party will respond to the support of the people with specific achievements by spurring reform legislation centered on 'peace, people’s livelihood and economy.‘ For every people to experience the economic recovery, the party, government and Blue House will unite and will start to revitalize the economy in full swing with the practice of 'J-nomics'. In addition, it is necessary to pass the "Panmunjom Declaration of Support Declaration" as soon as possible and ensure that the "Panmunjom Declaration" confirmed at the North Korea-U.S. Summit is supported by the National Assembly. In order to do so, normalization of the National Assembly is a priority. Fortunately, Liberty Korea Party is having a self-reflection. However, in order for Liberty Korea Party to have the authenticity of self-reflection, it should immediately withdraw the provisional ’bulletproof’ National Assembly and normalize the National Assembly. I urge you to have forward-looking cooperation with the peace and public welfare issues identified by the people. I hope that you will be reborn as a trusted party to the people. Democratic Party will try harder to cooperate with the Opposition Party, and will try to restore the trust of the whole political circle with politics only for the people.      

  “자유한국당 반성, 진정성 가지려면 국회 정상화부터” ■ 추미애 대표 더불어민주당은 이번 지방선거를 통해 막중한 사명을 부여받았다 . 민주당은 앞으로  ‘평화 , 민생 , 경제 ’를 중심으로 개혁 입법에 박차를 가해 구체적인 성과로 국민의 지지에 보답해 나가겠다 . 국민 모두가 체감하는 경제 회복을 위해 당정청이 똘똘 뭉쳐  ‘J  노믹스 ’ 실천으로 본격적인 경제 살리기에 나설 것이다 . 또한 , ‘판문점선언 지지 결의안 ’을 조속히 통과시켜 북미정상회담에서 재차 확인된  ‘판문점 선언 ’을 국회 차원에서 확실히 뒷받침하도록 해야 할 것이다 . 그러기 위해서는 무엇보다 국회정상화가 우선이다 . 다행히도 자유한국당이 반성하고 있다 . 그러나 자유한국당이 반성의 진정성을 가지려면 방탄국회를 즉시 철회하고 , 국회정상화부터 해야 한다는 것이다 . 국민의 지지가 확인된 평화와 민생 현안에 대한 전향적인 협력을 당부 드린다 . 국민에게 신뢰받는 정당으로 거듭나 주시기를 바란다 . 더불어민주당 역시 야당과의 협치를 위해 더욱 노력할 것이고 , 오직 국민을 위한 정치로 정치권 전체의 신뢰 회복을 위해 노력하겠다 .
