"Corruption based on power ... Kwon Sung-dong must be judiciously treated"

   ■ Party Chairperson Mi-Ae Choo   I've received the June 13 local election pledge of our party from the chief policymaker Kim Tae-nyeon. The pledge contains the commitment of our party to create a "country-like nation, a strong local government." Democratic Party will do its best to make the lives of the people happier by realizing the promises with the people in the pledge together with the Moon Jae-in administration and the local government of Democratic Party. Prosecutors filed a warrant for arrest on the member of Liberty Korea Party, Kwon Sung-dong, who was involved in the corruption scandal of Kangwon Land on May 19, 2018. The allegations against Kwon are suspected of business interference, third-party bribery, and abuse of authority. However, the allegation that a lawmaker who can have strong influence on the Prosecution as Chairman of the National Assembly's judicial committee exercised unreasonable pressure on the investigation through the head of the anti-corruption department was excluded from the reason for arrest warrant. The Prosecution's specialist advisory group concluded that there was no external pressure on the Prosecution's upper line in the process of investigating the recruitment of Kangwon Land. It seems that it was a conclusion already decided because the Advisory Committee was composed of personnel recommended by the Supreme Prosecutors. The fact that the Prosecutors gave indulgences to the external pressure of investigation that are the core allegations against Kwon, would have made the public more aware of the urgency and necessity of establishing the investigation office of corruption of high-ranking officials. The Kangwon Land recruitment scandal is the case of corruption based on power that has aroused frustration and anger among many young job seekers and their families. Members of Liberty Korea Party, Yeom Dong Yeol and Kwon Sung Dong, who have been charged with a warrant due to recruitment scandal of Kangwon Land, have to be judiciously handled. The National Assembly should not become a greenhouse of abandonment, nor should it become a judicial office where justice is not defined.     

“권력형 비리…권성동 반드시 사법처리돼야”  ■ 추미애 대표 방금 전 김태년 정책위의장으로부터 우리당의 6.13 지방선거 공약집을 전달받았다 . 공약집은 ‘나라다운 나라 , 든든한 지방정부 ’를 만들겠다는 우리당의 다짐이 담겨져 있다 . 더불어민주당은 공약집에 들어있는 국민과의 약속을 문재인정부와 더불어민주당 지방정부와 함께 실현시켜 국민들의 삶이 더욱 행복해 질 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다 . 검찰이 지난 19 일 강원랜드 채용비리에 연루된 자유한국당 권성동 의원에 대해 구속영장을 청구했다 . 권 의원에 적용된 혐의는 업무방해와 제 3 자 뇌물수수 , 직권남용 혐의이다 . 그러나 국회 법사위원장으로서 검찰에 막강한 영향력을 미칠 수 있는 권 의원이 대검 반부패 부장 등을 통해 수사에 부당한 압력을 행사 했다는 혐의는 구속영장 사유에서 제외되었다 . 검찰 전문자문단이 강원랜드 채용비리 수사 과정에 검찰 윗선의 수사외압은 없었다고 결론을 내었기 때문이다 . 자문단 구성은 대검이 추천한 인사로 구성되었기 때문에 이미 예정된 결론이 아니었나 싶다 . 권 의원에 대한 핵심 혐의인 수사외압에 검찰이 면죄부를 준 것에 대해 국민들은 고위공직자비리수사처 설치의 시급성과 당위성을 더 잘 알게 되었을 것이다 . 강원랜드 채용비리는 수많은 청년 구직자들과 그 가족들에게 좌절과 분노를 안겨준 권력형 비리 사건이다 . 강원랜드 채용비리로 영장이 청구된 자유한국당 염동열 의원과 권성동 의원은 반드시 사법처리가 되어야 할 것이다 . 국회가 적폐의 온실이 되어서는 안 될 것이며 , 사법정의가 미치지 못하는 사법 오지가 되어서도 안 될 것이다 .
