May 9, 2018. Excerpt from Opening Statement of the Party’s Supreme Council Meeting 

“Special Prosecution on Druking, cannot even be discussed as a ”thing“ in the first place... normalization of the National Assembly without any condition”

  ■ Party Chairperson Mi-Ae Choo   In the first place, a druking comment manipulation case is an incident that cannot even be handled by the Special Prosecution. In order to do this properly, the Special Prosecution itself should not be a political strife, and correcting the public opinion of the democracy on the Internet and improving the system should be the goal of Special Prosecution. Therefore, Democratic Party has accepted the Special Prosecution from a broad point of view in order to properly investigate the manipulation of public opinion through portals. However, it was reported in a daily newspaper yesterday that among many Internet online comment manipulation loopholes, especially Park Geun-hye administration has instructed Naver and others to manipulate public opinion through the government and “Park-samo” or “meeting of those who love Park Geun Hye.”　It is the intention of the opposition party to take one druking among many loaches and drive it into political struggles. However, we make it clear that the right to withdraw from the power that manipulates public opinion that is the enemy of democracy and to pursue a healthy democracy should be the goal of Special Prosecution.   I express my deep apologies to the opposition party that has come up with a bargain negotiation bill that is totally the opposite and out of essence and blames the fact that the ruling party does not normalize the National Assembly and puts conditions on Special Prosecution.   The druking case would be just the tip of the iceberg, compared to a wide range of crimes that manipulated macro crimes committed under the conservative regime. Nevertheless, the opposition party is ignoring this essence and is trying to drag it to the swamp of reckless political struggle by holding on to druking. Now, there is a lot of work piled up in the National Assembly. I will not be able to escape the criticism of the worst May National Assembly after the brutal April National Assembly, which has never opened the plenary session. The opposition party did not change at all during the first year after the presidential election. The National Assembly for People’s Livelihood, the National Assembly for Peace are being ignored and the National Assembly for Political Struggle and the Temporary National Assembly held in order to prevent being arrested during the session. It is emphasized once again that it is not time for 'Special Prosecution without conditions', but a time when 'normalization of the National Assembly without conditions' is necessary.

"드루킹 특검, 애당초 '깜'도 안돼… 조건 없는 국회정상화"

 ■ 추미애 대표 애당초 드루킹 댓글 조작 사건은 특검의 깜도 안 되는 사건이다 . 제대로 하려면 특검자체가 정쟁이 되어서는 안 되는 것이고 , 인터넷 민주주의 여론을 바로 잡는 것 , 제도개선이 특검의 목표가 되어야 하는 것이다 . 그래서 더불어민주당에서는 포털을 통한 여론조작에 대해서 제대로 조사를 해야 한다는 차원에서 대승적으로 특검을 받아들였던 것이다 . 그런데 수많은 인터넷 댓글 조작 미꾸라지 중에 특히 박근혜정부에서는 정부와 박사모를 통해서 네이버 등에 여론조작을 하라고 지시했다는 것이 어제도 어느 일간지에 보도됐다 . 수많은 미꾸라지 중에 드루킹 하나를 잡아넣고 이것을 정쟁으로 몰고 가려는 것이 야당의 속내이다 . 그러나 우리는 민주주의의 적인 여론조작 세력에 대해 제대로 철퇴를 가하고 건전한 민주주의를 지향하는 것이 특검의 목표가 되어야 함을 분명히 밝힌다 .

본질에서 벗어난 청개구리식 협상안을 갖고 와서 국회 정상화를 하지 않고 여당이 특검에 조건을 건다는 식으로 탓을 돌리며 아직도 몽니를 부리고 있는 야당에 대해서 심히 유감을 표한다 .

드루킹 사건은 보수정권 하에서 저질러진 광범위한 매크로 범죄에 비하면 빙산의 일각에 불과할 것이다 . 그럼에도 야당은 이런 본질은 외면하고 오로지 드루킹의 바짓가랑이만 잡고 무모한 정쟁의 늪으로 끌고 가려하고 있다 . 지금 국회에는 할 일이 산더미처럼 쌓여있다 . 한 번도 본회의를 열어보지 못한 잔인한 4 월 국회에 이어 최악의 5 월 국회라는 비판을 면할 수 없을 것이다 . 야당은 대선 이후 1 년 동안 하나도 달라지지 않았다 . 민생국회 , 평화국회는 외면하고 정쟁국회 , 방탄국회만 만들어 내고 있다 . 지금은 ‘조건 없는 특검 ’이 아니라 , ‘조건 없는 국회정상화 ’가 필요한 때라는 점을 다시 한 번 분명히 강조한다 .
