“The DPK’s On-Tact national convention should be held in a mature and transparent manner.”

  Last weekend, the ruling DPK’s national convention began in full swing beginning from the Jeju and Gangwon regions where delegate conventions were held. I would like to offer my congratulations to Song Jaeho and Huh Young on their election as the chairman of the Jeju Province Branch and the chairman of the Gwangwon Province Branch, respectively.

  Since this time, the national party convention is being held in an unprecedented virtual format, ardent cheering cannot be seen at municipal and provincial party conventions. Instead, addresses made by candidates will be aired through the party’s official YouTube channel, one of the positive aspects brought about by the virtual convention format. I am kindly asking the party members and ordinary citizens to pay attention to the DPK’s national convention. There is one thing that I want to emphasize is that strict social distancing rules must be observed to prevent further spread of the ongoing COVID-19 disease during the period of the party convention. The DPK’s new party leadership that will take charge of the next presidential election and local elections will be elected in the national convention and the candidates are doing good competition. So I would like to ask the party members and supporters for each candidate to keep in mind the fact that we are one team and you can contribute to making this national convention an ideal one without negative campaigning against rivals. This coming weekend, delegate conventions are scheduled to be held in Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions in order. It is certain that the candidates and staff members of each camp are having a hard time fighting the summer heat while campaigning. So please take good care of your health and try hard to make this national convention successful.

  지난 주말에 제주·강원지역 대의원대회를 시작으로 전당대회가 본격적으로 시작됐다. 도당위원장으로 선출되신 송재호 제주도당위원장, 허영 강원도당위원장님께 축하의 말씀을 드린다.

  처음으로 온택트 전대인지라 시도당대회에 치열한 응원전은 없지만 당 공식 유튜브 채널로 후보 연설이 전 국민에게 공개되는 긍정적인 측면도 있다. 당원과 국민들의 관심을 당부 드린다. 다만 아직도 코로나19 상황이 특별히 관리해야 하는 상황이기 때문에 전당대회 과정에서 감염이 발생되지 않도록 각별히 거리두기 등에 유념해주시기를 다시 한 번 부탁드린다. 대선과 지방선거를 책임질 중요한 지도부를 뽑는 전당대회이고 후보자들께서 선의의 경쟁을 펼치고 계신 만큼 당원과 지지자 여러분께서도 상대 후보에 대한 네거티브 없이 한 팀으로 아름다운 경선을 잘 이뤄주시길 다시 한 번 부탁드린다. 이번 주말에도 부산·울산·경남, 대구·경북의 대의원대회가 순차적으로 진행될 예정이다. 여름 전당대회라 더위 때문에 후보자와 캠프 모두 힘이 들 텐데 모두 건강에 유의하시고 품위 있고 내실 있는 전당대회 경선을 다시 한 번 부탁드린다.
