“Bill on the establishment of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) is a symbol of the prosecution reform.”

  Just one week is left before the launch of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO). Under the Act on its establishment, the CIO is set to begin operation on July 15. The ruling DPK is now proceeding a process to form a recommendation committee for the CIO chief. I hope the party leadership will choose two objective and fair-minded candidates as committee members. In addition, I would like to kindly ask the United Future Party, which has finally returned to the Assembly, to recommend two committee members in accordance with its internal procedures by July 15. Even if the main opposition UFP completes its task by July 15, it will take another time for the recommendation committee to discuss and finalize the selection of the CIO chief. Therefore, it will take much time before the formation of the agency is completed and its operation begins. The ruling DPK will do our utmost effort to help the CIO Act, a symbol of the prosecution reform, take effect as planned. So, once again I kindly ask the main opposition UFP also to do its best.

“공수처 법안, 검찰개혁의 상징”

  공수처 출범의 법정 시한이 15일로 며칠 남지 않았다. 추천위원 절차를 우리 당에서 거치고 있는데 객관적이고 중립적이며, 공정성 있는 추천위원 두 분을 선정해서 당에 보고를 해주시길 바란다. 아울러 미래통합당도 이제 국회에 복귀했으므로 법정 절차를 지켜서 15일까지 두 분을 추천해주셔야 한다. 시간이 많지 않기 때문에 내부 절차를 잘 따라서 추천해주시길 바란다. 15일까지 추천을 해주신다 하더라도 또 추천위에서 논의를 해서 최종적으로 공수처장이 결정되고, 공수처를 구성해서 가동하기까지는 또 시간이 걸린다. 그러므로 검찰개혁의 상징이라 할 수 있는 공수처 법안이 발효될 수 있도록 우리도 최선을 다하겠으니 야당도 최선을 다 해주실 것을 다시 한 번 요청 드린다.
