“Massive job losses caused by the outbreak of COVID-19, which requires the cooperation of people from all works of life in Korea.”

Job losses, as anticipated earlier, caused by the outbreak of the 2019 coronavirus disease are kicking into high gear. Now Korea is confronted with job crisis, which requires a collective national response. From the onset of the coronavirus outbreak, the government and the ruling DPK have rigorously implemented swift and emergent measures to address pressing issues that include providing support for small businesses and those at the risk of losing jobs, as well as paying disaster relief funds. Now we are going to focus more on measures to solve job issues lower income families and young people are faced with. Overcoming the on-going national health crisis requires pan-national cooperation and bipartisan responses. I kindly ask all Koreans to strictly follow self-quarantine rules and those who have visited to infected venues to have themselves tested for the virus. The government must mobilize every possible means to identify those infected and prevent further spread of COVID-19.

Today, the ruling DPK and the Together Citizen’s Party are scheduled to hold a meeting to complete the process of merging the two parties. As promised earlier, the DPK and the TCP will be merged into one party. As a single negotiation group in the National Assembly, we will prepare ourselves for the 21st National Assembly and make the utmost efforts to improve the image of the Assembly that functions properly, different from the 20th National Assembly. As the leader of the ruling party of Korea, I would like to ask the main opposition Future Korea Party to work together with the ruling DPK in order to make the National Assemble function properly, as expected by the general public.

“코로나발 일자리 위기 본격화.. 범국민적 협력 필요할 것”

예상은 했지만 코로나발 일자리 위기가 본격화되고 있다. 지금은 일자리 비상상황이며 범국가적 대응이 필요한 상황이다. 당정은 코로나 시작 때부터 소상공인 기업 지원, 일자리 대책, 긴급재난지원금 등 신속한 비상 처방에 나섰지만 보다 서민과 청년들에 집중된 일자리 대책을 더욱 강구하도록 하겠다. 고비를 넘기기 위해서는 범국민적인 협력과 초당적인 대응이 필요하다. 내가 아닌 가족과 다른 사람을 위해 자진해서 검진을 받고 생활 방역에 힘써주시길 바란다. 정부는 할 수 있는 모든 수단을 다 동원해서 감염자를 찾아내고 추가 확산을 막아내야 하겠다.

오늘은 더불어민주당과 더불어시민당의 수임기관 합동회의를 통해 양당의 통합을 마무리할 예정이다. 더불어민주당과 더불어시민당은 약속한대로 하나의 정당이다. 하나의 교섭단체로 함께 21대 국회를 준비하고 이전과는 다른 국회, 일하는 국회의 모습을 보여드리도록 하겠다. 21대 국회를 신속히 개원하고 국민들이 바라는 일하는 국회로 운영하도록 민주당과 함께 해주시길 미래한국당에 다시 한 번 부탁드리겠다.
