“Face to face classes resume next week.”

South Korea, beginning from today, will ease social restrictions and shift to everyday life quarantine. Primary and secondary school students will gradually return to school from next week. When schools reopen, parents are encouraged to remain supportive for smooth operations of face to face classes, helping their children adapt to offline learning environments again.

The government and the ruling DPK will not lower our guard against the coronavirus disease despite the public health threat appears to be gradually eased at this point. In this sense, I kindly ask all Koreans, who I know are already going through a very difficult and inconvenient time, to support the government’s decision to shift from online learning platform to offline one, believing that we are each other’s safety net and we can overcome this crisis with one mine. In a post-coronavirus era, the role of social institutions will become important in overcoming the crisis. This point should be thoroughly reflected when a meeting of officials at the policy committee from the government and the ruling party is held to discuss related issues.

The ruling DPK is going to elect a floor leader and form the party’s floor leadership, which will be followed by a vote by all party members to decide whether the DPK should be merged with the Together Citizens’ Party, preparing itself for the opening of the 21st National Assembly. Since the DPK is a political party owned by its members, we have strictly followed the established process of asking opinions of the party’s members whenever critical issues have emerged. I hope many members will participate in the vote on the merger of the PDK and the TCP. When the vote is over, the ruling DPK, after a joint meeting of the DPK and the TCP with the Central Committee will speed up the merging process with the aim to end the process before a discussion begins on the formation of the 21st National Assembly.

“다음 주부터 등교 수업 시행... 모두 국난 극복 협조해주길”

오늘부터 생활영역으로의 전환이 시작된다. 초·중·고 등교 수업 시행 역시 다음 주부터 시작될 예정이다. 방역은 특별한 일이 아니라 일상적인 일이 되어야 한다. 등교 수업이 시작되면 학부모님들께서 많이 도와주셔야 한다. 자녀들을 아침마다 살펴봐주시기 바란다.

당정은 조금도 긴장을 늦추지 않겠다. 국민 여러분께서도 다소 어려우시겠지만 항상 우리가 서로의 방역 안전망이며 함께 손잡고 국난을 극복한다는 마음으로 협조해주시기 바란다. 포스트 코로나 시대에서는 더욱 중요한 사회제도가 뒷받침돼 주어야만 극복할 수 있다. 앞으로 당정 간 협의 때 이 점을 충분히 정책위원회에서 반영해 주시기 바란다.

민주당은 이번 주 새로운 원내지도부를 선출하고, 더불어시민당과의 합당을 위한 전당원투표까지 21대 국회 준비를 차근차근 진행해 나가고 있다. 민주당은 당원이 주인인 정당으로서 매번 중요한 일이 있을 때마다 당원들의 의견을 묻는 과정을 철저히 지켜왔다. 이번 시민당과의 합당을 위한 전당원투표에도 당원 여러분들이 많이 참여해 주시기를 부탁드린다. 전당원투표가 끝나면 중앙위와 양당 합동회의 등을 거쳐 원구성 협상 전에 마무리 짓는 것을 목표로 합당절차를 조속히 진행하겠다.
