As the leader of the ruling party, I would like to offer my deepest apology to the victim, the citizens of Busan, and to our fellow Koreans for the resignation of the mayor of Busan, a member of the ruling DPK, over a misdeed that the mayor should not have done. The ruling DPK will make sure that gender sensitive education will be systemized and made compulsory for elected officials, party executives, and high-ranking party members. Once again, I apologize for this having caused fellow Koreans so much anxiety. 

Beginning from today, the National Assembly is going to start deliberations on the second supplementary budget bill. The supplementary budget bill should be passed this week at any cost, and disaster relief funds should be offered to all citizens in early May. I hope all members of the National Assembly will help the passage of the bills, in which no parties contest, through the Assembly as soon as possible, including support packages for key industries, plans for a Korean New Deal, and bills related to the Telegram Nth Room case, not to mention the disaster relief fund package. Not only the ruling DPK but also the National Assembly as a whole will do our utmost to bring the 21st National Assembly to a successful conclusion.  

Owing to the outstanding dedication of those concerned and the active participation of Koreans in quarantine campaigns, the number of newly confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease fell to around ten for eight days in a row, and strict social distancing rules have been eased. However, we should not lower our guard against the pandemic. I would like to ask Koreans to strictly follow everyday life quarantine, which I am sure will cause a lot of inconvenience for you. All members of the DPK should not forget their sense of responsibility as the ruling party of South Korea in that in the last general elections, Koreans entrusted the ruling DPK with the responsibility for overcoming of the national health crisis caused by the coronavirus outbreak. We should keep this in mind and remain vigilant until our responsibility is fulfilled.

“부산시장 사퇴 죄송... 당 차원 성인지 교육 및 제도 정비할 것”

먼저 민주당 소속 부산시장이 절대 있어서는 안 되는 일을 저질러 사퇴하게 된 것에 대해서 피해자분과 부산시민 그리고 국민 여러분께 당 대표로서 깊이 사과의 말씀을 드린다. 민주당은 선출직과 당직자, 고위 당직자에 대한 성인지 교육을 체계화하고 의무화하는 제도 정비에 다시금 박차를 가할 것이며, 다시 한 번 국민 여러분께 심려를 끼쳐드려 죄송하다는 말씀을 드린다. 

국회가 오늘부터 제2차 추경심사에 들어갈 예정이다. 무슨 일이 있어도 이번 주에 추경을 통과 시키고 5월 초에는 지급에 들어가야 한다. 이번 긴급재난지원금뿐만 아니라 그 외 기간산업 지원과 한국형 뉴딜을 위한 과제들, N번방 관련 법안 등 상호 이의가 없는 법안들도 가능한 빠르게 처리되도록 도와주시기 바란다. 20대 국회가 마지막 유종의 미를 거둘 수 있도록 민주당은 물론, 국회 전체가 최선을 다하겠다. 

관계자들의 헌신적인 노력과 국민들의 높은 방역의식 덕분에 신규환자가 8일째 10명 내로 감소했고 고강도 사회적 거리두기가 완화됐지만 여전히 긴장을 풀 때가 아니다. 국민들께서는 어려우시겠지만 여전히 확실한 생활 방역을 하시도록 당부의 말씀을 드린다. 민주당 구성원들도 집권당의 책임을 단 한시도 놓아서는 안 된다. 이번 총선은 국민들께서 민주당에 코로나 국난 극복의 큰 책임을 지운 것이므로 결코 이 책임을 잊거나 방심하지 않도록 하겠다.
