Up until now, the Democratic Party of Korea that is determined to renew public confidence by winning a fight against COVID-19 has focused its all resources on the overcoming of the national health crisis. The ruling DPK has held more meetings of the Coronavirus Countermeasure Committee than those of the Election Campaign Committee, concentrating every effort and means to prevent the economy from being further damaged. To successfully overcome the on-going health emergency and expected side effects from the outbreak, it is imperative to stabilize affairs of state. To this end, the National Assembly should closely work with the government instead of acting as a drag on what the government is trying to do. For this reason, the upcoming general elections are of paramount importance. Whether the National Assembly can be one that is going to act as an obstacle in every way as it did in the 20th National Assembly or whether it can be one that will work hand in hand to overcome the outbreak depends on the outcomes of this upcoming election.

The Together Citizens Party, a proportional coalition party of the ruling DPK, has finalized the lists of candidates who run for proportional representative seats in the upcoming elections, which include 20 candidates from the ruling DPK. The Together Citizens Party is a coalition party that the ruling DPK has decided to join after the voting of the party’s all members on the issue. In addition, the coalition party is the only political party that is going to present proportional representative seats that will lend support to the stable operation of the Moon Jae-in government. Therefore, the victory of the Together Citizens Party is tantamount to that of the ruling DPK. We will not spare support for the Together Citizens Party within the maximum permissible range of the Political Party Law and Electoral Law. As the leader of the ruling DPK, I humbly ask all lawmakers, party members, and supporters to support the coalition party as much as you can to succeed in the elections.
