“The LKP should cooperate in dealing with bills to promote the people’s livelihoods and give up its filibuster tactic.”

The main opposition Liberty Korea Party has decided to withdraw its filibuster against 177 pending bills related to public livelihoods and economy, which it filed for 40 days ago. The ruling DPK will hold a plenary session tomorrow to put to vote bills designed to improve the people’s livelihoods first. When the National Pension 3 Act is passed, basic old-age pension benefits will increase to 300,000 won for more elderly citizens and pension benefits for the handicapped will also be increased as planned. To this end, I sincerely ask the LKP to give support for other important bills to be passed through the National Assembly as soon as possible. Plus, I hope that the main opposition party will give up its filibuster against bills on the rearrangement of investigative rights between the Prosecutor’s Office and the Police as well as on the Kindergarten Three Act. It is time for the leadership of the main opposition party and its lawmakers to make a decision.  

Currently international circumstances are quite unfavorable. In times like this, Seoul and Pyeongyang need to make concessions and gather their will to keep afloat the current of peace on the Korean peninsula. As President Moon Jae-in is pushing ahead with drastic moves to promote inter-Korean relations, it is hoped that Chairman Kim Jong-un will also make a big decision. The ruling DPK will actively support inter-Korean exchanges using parliamentary diplomacy as well as domestic budgetary and legal means.

“자유한국당에 민생법안 처리와 필리버스터 철회를 위한 결단을 촉구한다”

자유한국당이 177개 민생·경제 법안에 걸어 놓은 필리버스터를 40여일 만에 모두 철회하기로 했다. 민주당은 내일 본회의를 열고 민생법안들을 우선 처리할 것이다. 연금3법이 처리되어야 더 많은 어르신들께 기초연금을 30만원으로 인상해서 지급할 수 있으며 장애인연금도 계획대로 될 수 있다. 그 외 다른 중요한 법안들도 제 때 처리될 수 있도록 자유한국당에게 부탁드린다. 아울러 검경 수사권조정 법안들과 유치원3법에 대한 필리버스터도 철회해 주기를 부탁한다. 한국당 지도부와 의원들의 결단을 촉구한다. 

새해를 맞이해 국제정세가 매우 어지럽다. 이런 상황일수록 남북이 서로 양보하고 뜻을 모아 평화의 흐름을 지킬 필요가 있다. 문재인 대통령님도 과감한 남북교류를 추진하고 있는 상황에서 북한 김정은 위원장도 통 큰 결단을 내려주길 바란다. 민주당도 국내예산과 법률뿐 아니라 의원외교를 통해 남북교류협력을 적극 뒷받침하겠다.
