“President Moon: ‘Using South Korea’s role to provide corresponding measures in support of North Korea’s denuclearization”

It has been reported that President Moon Jae-in had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump last night. The two leaders are said to have exchanged information on the developments of the agenda for the upcoming second US-North Korea submit slated for next week. President Moon said to Trump that he and Seoul are ready to assume any role, if necessary?from the reconnection projects for inter-Korean railways and roads to inter-Korean economic cooperation?in persuading Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear program. In response, President Trump expressed his gratitude to President Moon for his support of Pyongyang’s denuclearization and would closely follow-up with Moon after the summit. The upcoming second summit, scheduled for February 27 and 28, will most likely serve as a crucial turning point towards putting an end to a new cold war order in Northeast Asia as well as end the two Koreas’ seven decades of separation. As such, the ruling DPK will closely look at the developments and make the utmost efforts for the on-going peace process to be successful.

어제 밤에 문재인 대통령과 트럼프 대통령 간 통화가 있었다고 한다 . 제 2 차 북미회담을 일주일 앞두고 두 정상은 전화통화로 회담 의제협상 상황을 함께 공유하는 대화가 있었다고 한다 . 문재인 대통령께서는 북한의 비핵화를 견인하기 위해 필요하다면 대한민국이 남북철도 ?도로연결 , 남북경제협력사업에 대해 과감하게 역할을 맡길 것이라는 의사를 트럼프 대통령에게 전달했다 . 트럼프 대통령은 감사의 뜻을 밝히고 회담 후속조치과정에서 문재인 대통령과 긴밀히 상의하겠다고 답변했다고 한다 . 27, 28 일 열리는 북미회담이 그야말로 동북아 냉전체제 , 남북 분단체제 70 년을 마감하는 중요한 회의가 되기 때문에 당에서도 면밀히 예의주시하고 최선의 노력을 다하겠다 .
