We came to Jeju Island, which has preserved the time of the island of peace and the time of vain. It is not long before the election. I will do my best to complete the Jeju 4.3 and to make Jeju island, the island of peace, a symbol of prosperity. We have come to hold the second preliminary meeting in Jeju, where the wounds of the division, known as 4.3, remain intact. It is an expression of the strong will of Democratic Party and the candidate for governor, Moon Dae Lim, who will put an end to the era of division and conflict, the era of peace and coexistence, the opening of the new Jeju era with the people.

Meanwhile, the very first North Korea-U.S. summit where the destiny of the Korean Peninsula is held is now to be held in eight days. North Korea-U.S. is continuing its dialogue for the success of the summit and is making a peaceful atmosphere on the Korean peninsula by confirming a follow-up schedule to implement the Panmunjom Declaration of the North and South Korea. The three nations, South Korea, North Korea and U.S., are making every effort and commitment for the peace on the Korean peninsula. It is at this point that a new Korea, a new Korean peninsula, and such turning point are being prepared. Democratic Party will firmly support the successful hosting of the 6.12 North Korea-U.S. Summit and complete the peace on the Korean peninsula with the declaration of the end of the war and the peace agreement.

평화의 섬, 질곡의 세월을 당당히 지켜낸 제주도에 왔다. 선거가 얼마 남지 않았다. 제주 4.3을 완결짓고 평화의 섬 제주가 번영의 상징이 되도록 최선을 다하겠다. 4.3이라는 분단의 상처가 고스란히 남아있는 이 곳 제주에서 두 번째 선대위회의를 개최하게 되었다. 분단과 갈등의 시대에 종지부를 찍고 평화와 공존의 시대, 새로운 제주 시대를 국민 여러분과 함께 열어 가겠다는 더불어민주당과 문대림 도지사 후보의 강력한 의지의 표명이다.

한편 한반도의 명운이 걸린 역사상 첫 북미정상회담 개최가 이제 8일 앞으로 다가왔다. 북미는 정상회담의 성공을 위해 지금도 계속해서 대화를 이어가고 있고 남북도 판문점 선언을 이행하기 위한 후속 일정을 확정하면서 한반도 평화분위기를 만들어가고 있다. 남북미 삼국이 한반도 평화를 위해 모든 노력과 성의를 다하고 있는 것이다. 그야말로 새로운 대한민국, 새로운 한반도, 그런 전기가 마련되고 있는 시점이다. 더불어민주당은 6.12 북미정상회담의 성공적 개최를 든든히 뒷받침하고 종전선언과 평화협정으로 한반도 평화를 완성시켜 나가겠다.
