“DPK Issues Stern Warning to LKP to Stop Generating Fake News”

Lawmakers of the Liberty Korea Party continue to produce preposterous fake news. They have gone to extremes: Earlier this year some of its representatives made remarks disparaging the May 18 Democratization Movement; even yesterday they made the false accusation that the government is indirectly responsible for the death of Hanjin Group Chairman Cho Yang-ho, who passed away on April 8th. Although the massive forest fire that occurred in Gangwon Province last Thursday was contained relatively quickly and I witnessed Kim Boo-gyeom, Minister of the Interior and Safety, trying his utmost to deal with the situation at the scene until midnight when another minister came to take over, the main opposition party is spreading fabricated information insinuating that the government handling of the forest fire is comparable to that of former Park Geun-hye administration’s Sewol Ferry Disaster. In addition, despite making insulting comments about the Gwangju Democratization Movement, Kim Soon-rye, a member of the opposition party’s executive committee, went unpunished for her improper remarks by the party, but has now posted fake news on Facebook claiming that during the Gangwon Province forest fire, President Moon Jae-in was drinking with journalists.

Now I am calling for the LKP to stop doing these things that damage the party, mislead the public, and disrupt politics. I am afraid to say that as the leader of the ruling DPK, I am issuing a stern warning that unless the LKP quits this behavior, our party will have no choice but to respond accordingly.

자유한국당 의원들이 도를 넘는 망언들을 거듭 하고 있다 . 지난 5.18 망언으로 시작하더니 어제는 조양호 회장 별세를 ‘정부의 간접 살인 ’이라고 왜곡했다 . 강원도 산불을 어렵지만 빨리 진화했고 , 김부겸 장관이 현장에서 12 시까지 다음 장관이 인수인계할 때까지 불철주야 뛰는 것을 제가 현장에서 봤는데 , 그럼에도 마치 세월호 참사에 빗대면서 허위조작정보를 퍼뜨리고 있고 , 김순례는 당 최고위원이고 이 분이 바로 5.18 망언을 했던 분인데 당에서 징계를 안 하고 있으니까 강원도 산불이 났을 때 대통령께서 언론인들과 술을 마셨다는 가짜뉴스를 페이스북에 게시하고 있는 등 이런 도를 넘는 행위들이 있는데 , 저는 자유한국당에 요구한다 . 이런 행위들을 해서 결코 자유한국당에도 도움이 안 되고 , 국민들의 마음은 어그러지고 , 정치는 아주 정현해지는 행위를 중단하라고 말씀 드리고 싶다 .특히 이런 행위를 앞으로 계속한다면 저희 당으로서도 엄정하게 대처하겠다는 것을 다시 경고한다는 말씀을 드린다 .
