"A timely measure to send a special envoy to North Korea ...

We should also send a special envoy to the United States"

   Yesterday, President Moon formalized the dispatch of a special envoy to North Korea. He decided to send a special envoy to the North in the form of a return visit of a high-level delegation from the North by phone to U.S. President Donald. This will be a very timely measure to sustain and strengthen the peace mood on the Korean peninsula as an outcome of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. Close consultations between two countries were shown in order to achieve the common goals, which should lead to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and preserve peace. The government have to remove the wall of distrust and tensions between North Korea-the United States, the United States- North Korea, with the mindset of walking on thin ice. After the dispatch of a special envoy to North Korea, we should also send a special envoy to the United States to actively mediate the dialogue between North Korea and the United States and bear fruit of peace.  -March 2, 2018. "대북특사 시의적절한 조치…대미특사도 파견해야"    어제 문재인 대통령이 대북 특사 파견을 공식화했다. 트럼프 대통령과의 통화에서 북한의 고위 대표단 방한에 대한 답방 형태로 대북 특사를 파견하기로 한 것이다. 이는 평창올림픽을 계기로 조성된 한반도 평화 분위기를 지속, 강화시키는 대단히 시의적절한 조치라 할 것이다. 한반도 비핵화와 평화라는 한미 양국의 공동의 목표를 달성하기 위한 한미 정상 간의 긴밀한 소통을 보여주었다. 정부는 살얼음판을 걷는 심정으로 북한과 미국, 미국과 북한 사이에 쌓여 있는 불신과 긴장의 벽을 걷어내야 할 것이다. 대북 특사 이후에는 대미 특사도 함께 보내서 북미간 대화를 적극적으로 중재하고 평화의 결실을 맺어야 하겠다.   - 2018.3.2. 최고위원회 모두발언 중 발췌 -
